What's the difference between "normal" Pilates and CORE 704's Specialized Pilates?


Traditionally, Pilates is done either on mats (similar to a yoga class) or the Reformer, a resistance training machine developed by Joseph Pilates. All CORE 704 workout sessions are performed on CoreFormers, our specialized, modern Pilates machines. (Because of limited machine availablity, you'll need to schedule your CORE 704 sessions in advance to reserve your spot.)




Do I need to be in great shape to do CORE 704 Pilates workouts?


No, we do not expect you to already be in top shape to join us at CORE 704, but we do recommend you be able to hold a 1-minute plank first. More important than that is your willingness to show up and try your best. We may encourage you to push yourself harder to help you break through to the next level, but we will not force you to do anything you're not ready for.




What's the difference between yoga and CORE 704's Pilates?


Yoga tends to focus on static poses and stretches with slow movements between poses. In Pilates, we move more dynamically and seek to develop both strength and flexibility throughout active ranges of motion. At CORE 704, we also use a specialized pilates machine called the CoreFormer. Our CoreFormer sessions are high-intensity/low-impact workouts for your whole body. We do incorporate some elements of yoga into our workouts, and CoreFormer sessions end with stretching.




I feel very sore after I workout. How can I recover faster?


Feeling sore after an intense Pilates workout is normal. Soreness may not kick in until 12-24 hours after the workout. The official name for this is DOMS, or Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness, and scientists are still not sure what exactly causes it. Recognize the soreness is a necessary part of the process: you need to stress your body for it to adapt and strengthen. As you get in better shape, you will feel less sore and recover faster. Beyond accepting that some soreness is unavoidable, the best approach is to give your body what it needs:

  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Keep a refillable water bottle handy.
  • Get plenty of good sleep. Aim for around 8 hours. Put away your phone for an hour or two before bed and have a "winding down" routine.
  • Eat healthy foods. Add more vegetables to your meals. Cut back on junk foods. Get a good balance of macronutruients: carbs, fats, and proteins.
  • Rest, but don't get lazy. Even when you're sore, try to stay active, even if you need to go slow. Light movement and stretching can ease aches and pains. Your body is meant to move!

How should I prepare myself?


We say walking through the door is the hardest part. Once you are there you are in good hands. For safety and to ensure you are fully prepared we require you to arrive 15 minutes prior to your first class. Your coach can’t wait to greet you, get to know you and personally give you a demo of the machine and educate you about the method.




I am new to the fitness scene, will I be able to succeed?


We are excited you are doing something for YOU! It will be one of the hardest/intense workouts of your life, but your coach and team are there to motivate you and to assist with modifications to ensure you are doing the moves in the most efficient and effective way. Since this workout does incorporate a lot of intensity we highly recommend you are able to hold a plank for 30 seconds.




Will this workout challenge me?


Absolutely! If you are looking for one of the hardest workouts of your life but also one of the safest, this workout is perfect for you. Every class is intended to break down your slow twitch muscle fibers to complete failure so they can rebuild leaner and stronger. Your legs, abs, arms, and obliques will start to shake and burn in ways you have never experienced before.




Will I see results?


Guaranteed!! We promise that if you take CORE 704 3x a week for a month, your body will be leaner, stronger, and more defined.




Do you offer any group packages?


We do. If you and your group wants to have a private session please inquire via email to info@core704.com.




What should I bring + wear to class?


  • Wear clothes you are comfortable sweating and working out in.
  • Bring a water bottle, however, we have Bottle Water for $1.
  • We have a no cell phone policy during class- we want you to have 50 minutes dedicated to YOU!
  • Towels will be provided.
  • Sticky socks are required. You can bring your own or purchase them for only $10 at the studio.
